In the last years many advances have been achieved in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). Thereby the path planning in a virtual environment is one of the most important and most used aspects of artificial intelligence. The largely serial architecture of the CPUs (Central Processing Unit) is not suitable for the simulation of a large amount of autono-mous agents. On the contrary the technology of graphics processors with their parallel working architecture of the GPUs (Graphics Processing Unit) can be used very well for this purpose...
